Mission Statement
Ridership and route network reach of intercity bus service in the contiguous United States of America has declined steadily for decades instead of expanding. A recent series of massive reductions in service has left many substantial communities and regions severely isolated without meaningful interconnected intercity public transportation. Because intercity bus service is often saddled with an undeserved negative perception, has riders that are generally not well connected politically, and has minimal organized grassroots support at best, this tragic decline has gone largely unremarked.
The remaining service is often thought by the traveling public to be wholly represented by one carrier. Trip information provided may consequently be biased with circuitous routing and multiple, time consuming transfers around carriers with a more direct route. This, along with insufficient convenient interface with other forms of public transportation, discourages potential ridership.
The goal of our organization and website is to promote use, foster a more positive perception, and encourage future expansion of the current intercity bus system in the contiguous United States of America. This website will therefore always be a source of free, unbiased information for the general public to find stations, link to carriers, and determine information on how they interconnect. We will promote expansion of routes and stops especially in severely isolated regions, and we will support acceleration of the trend toward corridor expansion and intermodalism in the United States.
The intercity bus system is a vital part of the American public transportation network. Rather than quietly watching it slip away, we must dilligently work to expand it.
